How You Can Help »

Do you know how many children need an advocate right here in Lane County?

Every day abused and neglected children are removed from their homes and placed into substitute care because their parents can not or will not protect them. Lane County has over 1,000 children in this situation today, with just 100 volunteers to advocate for them. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers help find these children safe, permanent homes.

Upon completing 40 hours of training over a 10-week timeframe, CASA volunteers are appointed by the juvenile court judge to advocate for children who have been abused or neglected. CASA volunteers conduct independent investigations of the child’s circumstance by reviewing records, contacting parents, foster parents, teachers, therapists, caseworkers and other adults involved with the child. They report their findings to the court and make recommendations for the child’s best interests.

Abused and neglected children here in Lane County are waiting for a CASA volunteer. If you or someone you know can volunteer to speak up for a child, please contact us today.
