Child’s Story: Brittany Taylor
When I was 10 years old, I had a CASA volunteer here in Lane County. I can remember the day like it was yesterday. I was sitting in my aunt’s kitchen as my mom hung up the phone with Child Protective Services. My stomach dropped as she told me that accusations of physical abuse were not enough to remove my brother and me from my dad’s home. Click here to read more of Brittany’s story
Volunteer’s Story: Sara Knepper
Every time a child in foster care moves to a new home, their world is turned upside down. From the obvious changes – new schools and new ‘parents’ – to the less obvious – the smell of their shampoo and the type of foods they eat. As a CASA, I am one constant in their life; the face they know, the person who knows where they came from. I believe this made a difference in the lives of my three CASA kids. Donor’s Story: Steve Lee
For eight years I was on the State Citizens Review Board for children in foster care. These children live in a state of limbo with no permanence and no certain future. Seeing attorneys represent these children, that they hardly knew, was heart breaking. The CASA is a voice for these children, and truly knows them and what their needs are. A CASA helps speed up the process of getting these children into a permanent home. My donation to CASA saves the state monies spent on foster care and allows it to be used elsewhere to help other children in need. Click here to read more of Steve’s story
