CASA of Lane County Update Regarding COVID-19
June 5, 2020
An update from Executive Director, Heather Murphy
Regarding CASA of Lane County’s Plans for Re-opening
CASA of Lane County has been preparing for a ‘gentle’ re-opening following approval for Lane County’s Phase 2 plan post COVID-19 restrictions. We are very proud of the fundamentally seamless transition that our staff and volunteers have made to working remotely. We have successfully stepped up our efforts to visit clients, recruit, train, and support CASA volunteers utilizing a variety of virtual platforms. Our commitment to children and youth has shined especially bright in this time of uncertainty and angst.
We anticipate that a very limited number of staff members will return on staggered schedules in our offices beginning Monday, June 8th. * Social distancing will be practiced at all times.
In order to continue to protect our staff, volunteers, clients, and the community from COVID-19 transmission:
–We will not be holding public office hours at this time.
–We will continue to schedule (no-contact) appointments for our clothing closet, deliveries, etc. This can be arranged by calling our main number at 541-984-3132.
-All visits with clients will remain virtual for the time being.
–We will not be holding in-person group meetings or events at our facility for the foreseeable future.
Our Safety Committee conducted an assessment of our buildings for sanitization and social distancing needs. We performed a deep cleaning of our main office and are implementing daily sterilization protocols as staff members begin to return to the office. We will provide enhanced cleaning supplies to disinfect all shared areas (e.g., doorknobs, light switches, bathrooms) following usage.
We appreciate your patience while we carefully assess and work to respond to this unfolding situation. The safety of our clients, volunteers, staff, and community is our top priority as we navigate this unique time.
*All plans are subject to approval from Governor Brown’s Re-opening Oregon Phases and can change at any time.
COVID-19 UPDATE 3/16/2020
As the landscape with COVID-19 continues to shift, we are tightening measures at CASA of Lane County. We will reduce the hours that our main office is open to the public for the foreseeable future.New office hours will be from 10:00am to 2:00pm Monday through Friday.
We will reduce staffing at our Serbu office to one staff member working in the office at a time. Yolanda Mulhern will work there on Mondays and Fridays and Brenda Nepute on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. This will ensure proper court coverage.
The clothing closet for foster families (located at our main office) will be available during those hours. If there is an emergent need outside of those hours, please call 541-984-3132 and leave a message. Someone will return your call as soon as possible.
I continue to appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we all navigate this uncharted territory.
The COVID-19 situation is changing very rapidly. CASA of Lane County is taking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of this virus.
We will remain nimble and continue to communicate any potential adjustments to our regular practices during this time. Those may include: working remotely, shortened business hours, office closures, virtual meetings, etc.
The courts and our community partners are monitoring this situation closely as well and I predict that we will continually hear of changes to proceedings of all types. We will adapt to these changes and make certain that we continue to provide the highest quality of advocacy for our clients.
The health and well-being of our staff, volunteers and the children and youth that we serve, are our top priority.
