CASA of Lane County Board of Directors recently appointed Heather Murphy to the position of Executive Director. Heather will be starting her new position on September 1st. She will overlap for a few weeks with our current Executive Director, Megan Shultz, throughout the month of September.
Heather most recently served as a Rural Policy Advisor at The Children’s Institute in Portland, Oregon. Before that, she spent fourteen years as Executive Director of the Family Relief Nursery of Cottage Grove, Oregon. As a result, she is very familiar with the foster care system and child advocacy in Lane County.
Heather is also deeply engaged in her community. She is a City Council member for the City of Cottage Grove and also served as Council President for four years. She has been deeply involved as both Chairperson and Treasurer of the Oregon Association of Relief Nurseries. Heather remains active on a number of boards that provide leadership on children’s issues, from foster care to mentorship, throughout the state.
