Success Stories
Since CASA of Lane County was created, our volunteers have had a tremendous impact on children in Lane County who are in foster care due to abuse or neglect. While these stories represent only a few of the many kids we have served over the years, they speak to how powerful it can be for a child in who has experienced so much loneliness and isolation to have finally someone on their team.
As children in foster care, Joey and Alana were paired with CASA Supervisor Tami Stebbeds, who took on the important task of advocating for these kids in court. When she observed the special bond between Joey and Alana with Jamie and David, she advocated for the kids to be placed in their care. Tami’s influence and voice in the court changed Joey and Alana’s lives by granting them the safe and nurturing home they deserved.

Savannah’s Story
Born in Washington, Savannah was visually and hearing impaired without the proper tools or attention to address these impairments. Rather than attempting to communicate with Savannah, her first foster home put her on medication to sooth her behavior. CASA Leigh Hawes advocated for Savannah to be removed from this first foster home and placed with an ASL signer. Eventually, she was adopted out of state by a family fluent in ASL.
